At the LodgeThere is an array of activities to please any guest; try tennis, volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, a playground, 14 miles of hiking trails or one of our indoor or outdoor swimming pools. You can also head down to our 2,970-acre lake for water skiing, fishing or swimming. While you're there, rent a boat at one of two marinas and enjoy power boating, sailing or canoeing. Salt Fork Lodge & Conference Center offers a wide variety of activities and adventures for kids of all ages.
HikingDeveloped hiking trails wind throughout the park. Approximately 14 miles have been created for exercise and for the enjoyment of plant and animal life in this region. Wheelchair accessible hard-topped trails have also been added to accommodate all guests. FishingSalt Fork Lake provides some of the best fishing opportunities in the area, offering Catfish, Large and Small Mouth Bass, Muskellunge, Bluegill, Sunfish, Black Crappie, and Walleye among others. Anyone over the age of 16 must have a fishing license. In-state residents can obtain a one day or an annual license. Those residents over 72 will get a license at no charge, but they must register for the license. Ohio offers a one day, a three day, or an annual license for those coming from out-of-state. All Ohio laws apply. Fishing regulations and licenses can be obtained at Sugartree Marina. For further information, call 1.740.439.5833. ExerciseA fitness room at the Lodge offers guests a complete line of cardio-vascular and weight-training equipment. Nature CenterThe State Park offers a Nature Center with a variety of activities. The Center is open Memorial Day through Labor Day with events and programs through the week and on weekends. The staff naturalist prepares programs for both children and adults. The Nature Center displays both replicas and live wildlife found in the park. To request special programs, or to obtain a schedule of planned events, call the Park Office at 1.740.439.3521. Outdoor CourtsThe Lodge features outdoor lighted tennis and basketball courts, a volleyball court, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. All equipment is available for guest use at the Front Desk. SwimmingThe Lodge features both indoor and outdoor pools and an indoor hot tub. Swimming is also available at the lake's 2500-foot beach, the largest inland beach in Ohio. The indoor pool is open year-round, while the outdoor pool is open weekends from late May through mid-June and daily from mid-June through Labor Day. HuntingHunting is permitted in the park, during posted times recognized by the State of Ohio. In addition to regular season, the park offers special hunts, including youth hunts for deer and turkey, and muzzleloader hunting for deer. Call the Park Office for hunting dates, regulations, and information at 1.740.439.3521. All Ohio hunting rules and regulations do apply inside the State Park. BonfiresWe also have bonfires on a seasonal basis. Ask the front desk for more information. Children's ActivitiesSalt Fork Lodge & Conference Center provides activities on Saturdays during the year with an expanded summer schedule starting in late June. The Activities Department has put together a schedule full of exciting and educational events for children. Some require a small fee, while others are free to lodge and cottage guests. A sample of indoor activities that you may find include Paper Plate Animals, Sand Projects, Leather Lacing, Basket Weaving, Pine Cone Angels, Lighthouse Painting, Scented Candle or Soap Making, Fabric Painting, Tee Shirt Painting, and Tie-Dying. Popular naturalist activities include Nature Watch Birds of a Feather, Design a Bird House, Amazing Animals, Fossil Find, Nature Hike, Wildflower Walk and Learn to Use Rod and Reel. Popular outdoor swimming pool activities may include Duck Races, Oversized Beach Ball Race, Save the Monkey and Water Gun Ping Pong. Additional activities that are fun for the entire family include Cane Pole Fishing, Family Volleyball, Cornhole and Shuffleboard Tournaments along with Evening Bonfires. We encourage all guests to take a cruise on Salt Fork Lake captained by one of our activity staff members. A one-hour pontoon boat excursion provides guests with an overview of what Salt Fork Lake has to offer. Indoor ActivitiesThe Lodge also has a Game Room, which contains pool tables, video games, pinball, and a jukebox. The Game Room is open to guests 24-hours a day. In addition to the Game Room there are board games and DVD's available to be checked out at the front desk. Winter FunIn the winter months you can enjoy sledding on our golf course. Snowmobiling is also permitted in designated areas of the park. |
